Aura® P Absolute Encoders

Aura P is an extension to the Aura Optical Encoder Series, offering a connectivity-ready high resolution absolute encoder in a super-compact form-factor. Maintaining its well-known high accuracy, run speed, and wide alignment tolerances, Aura P is now easier to install and integrate than ever, reducing overall time-to-market.

Aura employs a short wavelength LED for precise absolute position decoding. An advanced sensor and incremental scale track produce pure sine wave signals, enabling high resolution interpolation with run-speeds up to 83,721 rpm (with 18 mm scale). High accuracy and repeatability satisfy the most demanding of applications.

The small, low power consumption SMT package now comes integrated into a ready-to-use OEM PCB. The high speed BiSS-C interface delivers the minimal latency required for high bandwidth control loops. The generous alignment tolerances facilitate installation and the built-in scale eccentricity compensation eliminates the cost of dual averaging encoders and improves production efficiency.

SmartPrecision™ III is intuitive software for calibration, alignment, and status monitoring. Encoder data can be sampled and recorded in a CSV file. To simplify installation, hubs with pre-mounted encoder scales are offered
